He soon meets his match in the form of a tough British intelligence officer who tracks him down on a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel “Day of the Jackal” was set in 1963 and revolved around the attempted assassination of then French President Charles de Gaulle.

The play moves the setting to the current era.. Eddie Redmayne is outstanding in Day of the Jackal, bringing depth and intensity to his role, keeping the audience on edge with every move.
However, Lashana Lynch feels a little out of place in her role
His performance elevates the story, adding layers of intrigue that make him a compelling lead. While talented, her portrayal isn’t quite in sync with Redmayne’s nuanced performance, sometimes disrupting the flow and immersion.
A stronger advantage would have lifted it
It makes you wonder about the choices – would a different pairing have made this an instant classic? A stronger balance between the leads might have given the story the epic impact it deserves.
